Hello Mr. K,
Thank you for contacting us through our website. You wrote:
“I currently have a 1.5 cuft filox iron filter that is handling the iron for us now. I am getting some pass through on the iron because we still get some staining in the toilets over time and we see orange on our dishwater filter regularly. I have a grundfos 22SQE15-220 submersible pump. This is a variable speed pump. I am considering a hydrogen peroxide and active carbon filter to add to my system and need to talk about what all is needed and the best approach to resolving these remaining issues. On a side note, we observed some bluing under the toilet rim, but i am not sure if that is from cleaning or the water. I would like a call on Tuesday to discuss a plan for my system. Thanks"
We can definitely help. Here are the main points to consider here when planning a peroxide injection system:
- Since it is a variable-speed pump, you would specifically need what is referred to as a proportional injection system. This is would use a water meter plumbed in-line that would detect what the flow rate is, and then it would send a signal along to a pump control module, which would in turn send a command to the injection pump telling it just how much to inject into your water to match the changing flow.
- For peroxide, we always recommend not just activated carbon, but catalytic carbon, which is better-suited for peroxide removal as well as iron. We would recommend that this all be place in-line prior to the iron filter system.
- It would be best to use either an inline mixer or a contact tank to ensure that the oxidation reaction is taking place. For best results, it would be good to go with a contact tank.
