Water Test Shows Acidic Water

Hi Lorna,

Thank you for taking the time to discuss your water test results today, this report is also attached for your review.  In regard to this for the most part the water is in pretty good shape, except for the low pH and a level of Iron which is close to the staining level.  As discussed recommendations would be to implement an automatic backwashing Neutralizer to raise the pH to a Neutral level around 7 – 7.5.  Doing so will stop any pin-hole leaks from occurring and also reduce/remove any copper residuals as well.

A Calcite-Blend filter using Calcium Carbonate (Calcite) and Magnesium Oxide (Corosex) will neutralize the pH and help eliminate the corrosive effects of the water. Many customers with this type of water used to have blue-green stains from copper pipe corrosion and after installing the neutralizer see their blue stains disappear within a few weeks.  The Neutralizer filter comes with everything you need including the Calcite/Corosex media and simple instructions.  Any plumber or person familiar with basic plumbing can install them.

Due to the fact that Neutralizers will raise the pH they also increase hardness levels as well, in this case more than likely by at least 6 – 8 grains.  As your raw water is at 2 grain currently along with the level of Iron present which may be causing some staining a Water Softener would be recommended.  Doing so would remove the hardness along with levels of Iron and assist in stopping hard water spots from occurring.

Please see below for additional information, as well as attachments, and product links on the equipment we discussed.
