What is the Best Way to Treat Extreme Iron and Manganese?

Hi Folks - We had to dig a new well after our original one ran dry. Please see the attached water analysis on the new well.  The water not only stinks, but stains our clothes. Help!

Hello Terri,
Your water has extreme levels of iron, manganese and odor, not to mention high levels of water hardness.  On top of that, the water is contaminated with coliform bacteria.

The most economical and effective way to remove your extremely high levels of iron, manganese, bacteria, odors and hardness is to use a Stenner chlorine injection pump, followed by a MangOX media iron filtration system, a carbon backwash filter, and finally followed by an efficient water softener to remove hardness.

The chlorine bleach kills the bacteria and removes the odors, and allows the MangOX iron filter to remove much higher levels of iron and manganese.  The 40-gallon contact retention tank allows for enough contact time for the chlorine to react with the iron and manganese and bacteria.  This provides clean, disinfected, odor-free, chlorine-free water throughout the house.  These Stenner self-priming chlorine pump systems are easy to install by anyone familiar with basic plumbing and very easy to maintain yourself.

MangOX is a media that utilizes an oxidation-reduction reaction and filtration process similar to Greensand, but does not require any potassium permanganate.  MangOX media lasts a long time, typically 4 - 5 years. These filters are fully automatic and use the reliable Fleck 7000 control valve and the advanced Vortech inner distributor system which reduces backwash requirements by 30%:
