How To Use a Chlorination System to Treat Both Well Water Odor And Bacteria

Hello,

I have a lot of sulfer odor in our water well. We also had a recent positive test for coliform bacteria. I want to kill both the bacteria and get rid of the odor. My neighbor suggested chlorine? I have a lot of fine sediment as well. We don’t use a lot of water, it is just the me and my wife.

Right now all we have is a water softener.

Dear Bruce,

One very effective way to treat both bacteria and strong sulfur odors is with the use of a J-Pro chlorination injection system and a contact tank.

This system also provides disinfection, providing you with clean water, void of bacterial contamination.

The chlorine would then feed into a contact tank to provide enough time and contact for the solution to react with the bacteria in the water, and then it could go through a non-backwashing sediment filter and carbon filter to take out the sediment, turbidity and remaining chlorine taste/odor.

An optional final UV sterilizer (installed AFTER the softener) would make sure all the bacteria are killed.
